Description
Le Palais de l'Isle (or Island Palace) rises above the Thiou canal in the picturesque Alpine town of Annecy, France.
Described in a 17th century manuscript as a "house in the shape of a galley", over the ages it has served as the Lord of Annecy's principal residence, a prison, the home to the Count of Geneva's mint, a court of law, an administrative centre, and (currently) a local history museum.
A medieval construction, its oldest parts date from the year 1132 though its facade resembling a ship's bow dates from the 15th century.

Living on a little stone castle on an island would be cool.
